Bookkeeper/Finance Assistant

Reports to: Finance Director

Join the One Life team at their office in Chilliwack, BC as bookkeeper/ finance assistant. The bookkeeper/finance assistant is responsible for assisting the Finance Director in the successful management of the One Life finances in Canada according to the strategic direction set out by the Board of Directors.

Position Overview
The bookkeeper will facilitate operations of One Life’s finances, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and audit preparation. The bookkeeper will collaborate with a variety of One Life personnel, including the Executive Director (Mexico) and Operations Manager (Canada).

Duties and Responsibilities
• Post information to accounting software
• Reconcile accounts
• Record cash receipts and make bank deposits as required
• Post payments for supplier invoices in a timely manner
• Post e-Transfer payments in a timely manner
• Post all monthly payroll entries
• Post monthly bank fees and any other adjusting entries
• Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
• Prepare monthly Reports, Restricted Funds Reports, and Monthly Review
• Assemble information for external auditors as required

Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of Sage accounting software package
• Prior non-profit finance experience is an asset
• Team Player – an accessible, visible, and flexible management style that inspires trust and confidence in staff to work hard and well together
• Ability to manage data for financial reporting quickly and effectively
• Personal qualities of integrity and credibility
• Direct and concise communication skills; an active listener
• Preference will be given to the candidate with an Associate degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience, as well as knowledge of bookkeeping and GAAP standards

Salary
This position is 20-30 hours per week and paid hourly. Wage shall be commensurate with experience.
